Plenary II – Binge Eating Disorder

Amy Lampard chairs and act as discussant of this 2014 Conference Plenary, on the theme of Binge Eating Disorder (BED), which is now identified in DSM5 as a diagnosable condition. Kathleen Chin will discuss self-help groups and BED through the eyes of lived experience, Fiona Sutherland will present dietetic approaches and Emma Dove will review the effect of weight management strategies.
Fiona Sutherland is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Co-Director of Body Positive Australia, based in Melbourne. Fiona has facilitated the RIPE (Recovery Is Possible for Everyone) Group for over 10 years for women with BN or BED, and more recently Body Positive Retreats, Body Image Bootcamp (not your regular style!) and Curvy Yoga. Fiona has been a member of the Body Image and Disordered Eating Research Team at La Trobe University with the “Confident Body Confident Child” Project She is a committed advocate for HAESÆ and the Non Diet Approaches in recovery from binge eating.
