Welcome to the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) Website

Welcome to ANZAED! The Academy is a young and active multidisciplinary organisation that aims to represent and support the activities of all professionals working in the field of eating disorders and related issues. We are aware of the large number of complex issues there are to address at social, community and individual levels. Frequently, this is intellectually and emotionally challenging and being aware of the range of treatment options, clinical trends, current social and political climate, recent research findings and needs of patients and carers can be essential. We aim to provide opportunities for members' collegial interaction and sharing of knowledge and resources that can help you. ANZAED also has an important role as a bi-national organisation to work for improved services and care, further research and understanding in the area of Eating Disorders, and work co-operatively and in partnership with similar bodies internationally, notably our 'sister' organisation the international Academy of Eating Disorders (AED).
We hope you will join us!

We have a number of means to achieve our goals.

  • ANZAED has an email Discussion Board that facilitates immediate communication of questions and ideas between our members on any relevant topic you wish.
  • ANZAED offers clinician and young investigator scholarships that pay for conference and/or relevant workshop registrations and provides towards conference costs. One is the Peter Beumont ANZAED Young Investigator Prize and the other is the Paul Foulkes ANZAED Clinician Scholarship.
  • ANZAED's 2008 conference will be held in Perth.
  • ANZAED also regularly hold workshops to assist clinicians upgrade skills around Australia.
  • ANZAED aims to be inclusive and open to the input of our members. We look forward to you becoming a member and contributing to our activities.
