            International sister organisations

ANZAED is proud to be a Sister Organisation of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED). This relationship was established in 2006 in recognition of the shared goals of ANZAED and AED.  The Sister relationship is based on a collaborative arrangement in which the two organisations endeavour to support the activities of the other in a range of ways.  These activities include promoting each other’s conferences, funding joint scholarships to attend each other’s conferences, giving a membership discount to members of the other organisation, and sharing news with membership of both organisations.

To promote these activities, ANZAED joins regular phone meetings with the Sisterhood, Chapter and Affiliate Committee of the AED chaired by Rachel Bachner (from Israel) and Phillipa Hay (from Australia and a Past president of ANZAED).  Susan Paxton represents ANZAED on the committee.

The committee brings together all AED's sister organisations and consequently, links ANZAED to national organisations with shared goals from around the world, including Austria, Chile, Germany, The Netherlands, Canada, Israel, Mexico & Argentina.

An important Sister initiative is the jointly sponsored ANZAED/AED Young Investigator Travel Scholarship  which provides substantial financial support for an ANZAED member early in their research career to present their work at the 2012 ICED conference.
