ANZAED Conferences & Events

Conference:

The 6th Annual Conference of the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders will be held between August 28 – 30, 2008 at the Esplanade Hotel in Freemantle Western Australia. The Academy is pleased to announce that Dr. Rachel Bryant-Waugh will be one of the Keynote speakers for the event and will be presenting a workshop.  For more information on the conference please contact Dr Anthea Fursland at anthea.fursland@health.wa.gov.au

The conference will include symposia, discussion, debates and papers. We will be exploring a wide range of issues, with a focus on cultural influences on both eating disorders and their treatment.

On the first day of the conference, Dr. Bryant-Waugh will present a keynote address entitled “Fundamental interactions: mothers, children, feeding, and eating"

On the second day of the conference, Prof. Janice Russell  will present a keynote address entitled “Is the media to blame?

Workshops:

Training Day (Thursday 28^th August):  Two half day workshops will address clinical issues by two excellent presenters:

Kate Fleming B.Sc. Grad Dip. Nutr. & Diet. APD, from Perth, will present a workshop in the morning session entitled “ A Nutrition Toolkit - Essentials for every therapist ”

Dr. Rachel Bryant-Waugh,from London, will present a workshop in the afternoon session entitled “Working with fear in eating disorders - practical strategies for the clinician”

NOTIFICATION OF ANZAED AGM.

The AGM will be held on Saturday 30^th August 2008 at 8.30 a.m. at the Freemantle conference.  One executive position is avaliable and will be voted on at the AGM.  All members are invited to nominate for the position.  An application form can be downloaded by clicking here.
