Dear ANZAED & AED Members and Supporters,

Due to the global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, with great regret both the ANZAED Executive Committee & the AED Board would like to hereby announce that the ICED 2020 Sydney (ANZAED and AED) will not be proceeding as planned.

Out of concern for both the clients and the staff of the International Convention Center, following the Australian Federal Government’s announcement of a ban on all non-essential indoor gatherings of greater than 100 people, effective 18 March, the Centre has announced it will implement this ban from 18 March until June 14.

Protecting the health, safety, and well-being of our members & attendees is paramount, and reinforces our decision to cancel the ICED 2020 Sydney. Along with all the events happening currently, we also have a professional responsibility to model social distancing and not to contribute to the spread of the virus through a large public gathering.

Both the ANZAED Executive Committee and the AED Board have given this decision careful consideration. We would like to acknowledge the members of our committees who have worked tirelessly to organise the scientific program for the 1500 professionals we had originally expected to attend. We would like to thank all of them for their incredible work and leadership during this difficult time.

We recognize that cancelling the ICED 2020 Sydney impacts many of you and your education needs, hence our teams are now looking at scoping various options including holding sections of the conference via an online format, details of which will be announced soon. We will also be in touch with the registered delegates with further information including the option of rolling over their registration fees.

Please email AED at iced2020@aedweb.org or ANZAED at anzaed@anzaed.org.au for any further assistance or information.
