Paths through the wilderness: Navigating difficult terrain in Eating Disorder treatment

The 2024 ANZAED Autumn Workshop Series took place in beautiful Hobart, Tasmania. This event was held from Friday 8 March to Monday 11 March at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart.

The welcome reception took place on Friday 8 March from 6.00pm – 8.00pm at the The Waterline Brooke Street Pier, 12 Franklin Wharf, Hobart, TAS, Australia, Tasmania. 

The Waterline is a beautiful venue, boasting spectacular views of Sullivans cove, nestled at the end of Brooke Street Pier positioned on the water’s edge with access to an exclusive deck floating off the edge.

2024 AWS Co-convenors:

Emma Gebrael is Director of Nurtured State and Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician, a Mental Health Social Worker specialising in the treatment of eating disorders in young people, particularly Anorexia Nervosa. Emma is especially passionate about supporting parents/carers in helping their child recover. Emma also has a keen interest in working with young people experiencing body image issues and is on a mission to challenge young people’s ideas of beauty and the ‘ideal’ body shape and build body confidence.

Emma is also committed in supporting the wider community in the early identification and treatment of eating disorders through education and clinical supervision.

Meg Scanlan is a Clinical Psychologist and Director of Balanced: Mind Body Life, a private psychology and dietetic practice in Hobart whose focus is on the treatment of Eating Disorders.  Meg has been working in this area for the last ten years and is particularly interested in the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa where there is a history of trauma.  Meg is thrilled to have an opportunity to collaborate with ANZAED to co-present this workshop series.
