ANZAED Workshop (in collaboration with CEED): Management & Psychological Treatment of Eating Disorders in Adults

This three day workshop is focussed on adults with severe and complex eating disorders, including their emotional, cognitive, behavioural features and medical and psychiatric dangers. It includes key elements from the ANZAED practice standards for the psychological treatment of severe and complex eating disorders. The workshop is designed to prepare a clinician to accept referrals under the new Medicare item numbers for eating disorders.

Speaker: Chris Thornton (B.Sc. Hons; M.Psychol)
Chris Thornton is a clinical psychologist, teacher and researcher who specialises in the eating disorders. He has established a number of highly effective day programs, has consulted to several eating disorder units throughout NSW and has published numerous chapters and research articles in this field. Chris now works primarily in his private practice seeing clients, teaching and conducting supervision.

Speaker: Chris Basten (B.A. Hons; M.Psychol; Ph.D.)
Chris Basten is a clinical psychologist who has previously worked in and managed a hospital eating disorders service. He has undertaken research in the field of eating disorders and has been active in training GPs and psychologists in the area for many years. Chris now works in private practice seeing clients and conducting supervision, and also consults to health services.

The Treacy Conference Centre is located just 3 km from the Melbourne CBD at 126 The Avenue (near the corner of Royal Parade and Walker Street) in Parkville. The Centre is also just minutes away from the Zoo, the State Netball centre, Hockey Centre and Melbourne University. Melbourne’s International Airport at Tullamarine is a mere 20 km away.

On weekdays between 7:30am and 6:30pm, up to 11-hour metre parking is available on The Avenue (park side) and Walker Street. The machines do take coins, or credit card and they use the paystay app
Royal Parade also offers limited parking.
Parking is also available at The Melbourne Zoo – car park located closest to The Avenue, situated on Elliot Avenue, which is only a short walk from the Treacy Centre.

Public transport
Tram 19 from Elizabeth Street to Walker Street, (stop 16), is a quick, pleasant and easy ride from the city.
